How to create a custom sized gift box – just in time for Black Friday

It is just math, how hard can it be? Ugh….am I right? Math can be so challenging and crafting is supposed to be fun! well Donna Griffith from the Stampin’ Up! Home office created this simple to use formula on a YouTube video a few years ago and it is a game changer for me!

Boxes can be made any size, this one is 10.5” square.

Slimline Cards!

Many of you know that I am an outdoor girl and married to a logger so anything woodsy speaks to my heart.

When I saw the In The Pines stamp set, I knew it was to be a must have.

These darling, trendy slimline cards are fun to make and lend themselves to a stampscape very well. While this card isn’t a stampscape, it is simple stamping, just requiring paper, ink and adhesive. I used a punch and dimensionals to cover my stamping error 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

Card Recipe:

  • Card base is Old Olive 7″ x 8 7/8″ score and fold at 3 1/2″ #100702
  • 2 Whisper White panels 3 1/4″ x 8 5/8″ #100730
  • In The Pines Stamp Set #153448
  • Old Olive Ink Pad #147090
  • Cherry Cobbler Ink Pad #147083
  • Gray Granite Ink Pad #147118
  • Multipurpose Liquid Glue #110755
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals #104430
    Lovely Labels Pick a Punch #152883

The tree images are a 2 step stamping technique using first and second generation stamping with Old Olive Ink, the snow Gray Granite Ink, stamped off 2-3 times for the effect desired.

The sentiment is stamped in Cherry Cobbler on a 3/4″ strip of Whisper White with ends trimmed using the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch and popped up on dimensionals. (Scissors work just as well if you don’t have a punch, just cut a banner end or at an angle for the desired effect)

These slimline cards fit right into a business sized envelope, so no need to worry about making a special envelope!

I just love beautiful clear summer nights, twinkling lights or fireflies casting their light filled with sweet wishes. We live in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains in Southwest Washington and do not have fireflies, but they have always fascinated me!

At $22, the Paper Pumpkin, Stampin’ Up!’s answer to an affordable, monthly, all inclusive paper crafting kit is an excellent way to grow your stamps and ink collection.

July’s Paper Pumpkin theme is aptly named, Summer Nights and the sneak peaks are sure to please if you too, love summer nights, twinkle lights or fireflies. The kit includes all the supplies to make darling postcards and luminaries or gift bags! This month there is also a bonus add on available to order through my online store. For $10 you get additional coordinating products to make full sized cards.
