Graduation 2019

Can you believe it? The end of May is nearly here and that brings the subject of graduations front and center!

Our youngest son will graduate next year, and there are multiple friends and family members who have graduates.

So what is a Stamper to do, but dig out the retiring large letter framelits and create a card out of the perfect black, orange and white Cardstock, which is the school colors for Imbler High School where our sweet cousin Kylie will graduate tonight.

This card features black, pumpkin pie and whisper white card stock. I needed to make a tassel and so I used bakers twine, colored it with Dark Pumpkin Pie Blends market, a retired stamp set for the flower and sentiment. I was crafting on the fly and of course I grabbed the wrong one. What is a crafter to do when that happens? Just roll with it!

Geared Up Garage for the Birthday Boy

Today our youngest son, the baby, is 17. As we prepared to celebrate another year of his birth, I started thinking about cards (of course) and knew the Geared Up Garage Stamp Set and Garage Gears Thinlits Dies was just the ticket for the boy who is in a Diesel Technology program through our high school.

  • The card base is Gray Granite Cardstock, layered with Black and Whisper White Cardstock.
  • First I stamped the oil slick multiple times with Smoky Slate Ink as well as a few nuts.
  • Next I stamped the gas can and tool box on a scrap of Whisper White in Momento Black Ink, coloring them in with my Stampin Blends markers in Dark Real Red, Dark Smoky Slate, Light Smoky Slate on the tools and Light Night of Navy for the screwdriver handle and die cut them out.
  • I die cut the gears out of Gray Granite Cardstock and used a sponge dauber to add color using Gray Granite Ink.
  • I stamped the sentiment in Momento Black Ink on a strip of Real Red Cardstock and added Classic Garage Metal Elements.
  • For the inside I again stamped the oil slick in Smoky Slate, stamping off first, the sentiment in Real Red and added a strip of the Classic Garage DSP to finish it off.
  • What a fun set for the “gear heads” in your life! All items are available for purchase through my online store at Stampintammy.stampinup.net
  • Happy Crafting!

  • As she says goodbye to some favorites!

Well, the time has come to say goodbye to some fun and most certainly favorite Paper, inks and embellishments.

“Say it isn’t so” she cried. “Lemon Lime Twist and Tranquil Tide are my favorites!”

Indeed it is true, the 2017 – 2019 In Colors, Powder Pink, Lemon Lime Twist, Tranquil Tide, Berry Burst and Fresh Fig are set to retire at the end of May and all products are on a while supplies last.

She thought she would be okay, as she has the ink pads, but soon realized they would need re-inking and her cardstock stash was woefully inadequate.

So she placed an order to replenish her supplies and made sure reinkers were a part of that so She is good to go for now, are you?

2017-2019 In Color products are retiring.

The retirement list is extensive from both the Occasions Catalog and the Annual Catalog.

The Clearance Rack has been updated with lots of goodies.

All orders of $50 or more receive a free gift from me.

Bigger and Better on the Horizon

You may have heard that Stampin’ Up! Has decided to retire the Stampin’ Trimmer and Big Shot at the end of this catalog. Here is my take from this announcement. Stampin’ Up! has always had the best products, the best value and the best customer and demo support and when products don’t live up to the high standards that Stampin’ Up! has built their business on something must change!

The trimmer blades have been a manufacturing issue for a while now, leaving many frustrated with frayed edges. After multiple attempts to work with the manufacturer to remedy the situation it is time to retire the product and go back to the drawing board.

After many issues with dies on backorder, or unorderable status, Stampin’ Up! has decided to part ways with Sizzix, the middle man in our die manufacturing and the parent company of the Big Shot. While this may be shocking to some, what it really does is allow Stampin’ Up! to cut out the middle man, and work directly with a manufacturer to produce our dies and embossing folders. More control is key to this! That being said, a new option will be on the horizon.

So the takeaway from all of this:

    1) If you have a trimmer, order additional blades now, limit 3 sets until 4-15 then you may order 6 sets. Stay tuned for a new trimmer option, but not with the new catalog debut.

    2) You will still need a die cutting/embossing machine to use these items, so go ahead and order a Big Shot or if you already have one, order extra cutting plates. Rest assured, once Stampin’ Up! has retired the Big Shot you can still find cutting plates etc. at your local craft store or online. Stay tuned for a new option, but not with the new catalog debut.

Place an online order of $50 or more through my website and be placed into a drawing for a now retired SAB stamp set! Orders must be placed by April 30th The winner will be announced on my Facebook page on May 1st.

    Letters in the mail

Do you remember the days of receiving letters in the mail? As a child I had a pen pal and what fun it was when a letter from her came in the mail!

Fast forward to modern day, do you get letters or cards in the mail? Do you feel nostalgic when you find a letter, card or even a simple piece of tape on the back of a photo frame that has your grandmother’s handwriting on it? I do, and this is in part why I create and teach card making. My goal is to start sending out cards I make to those who are important to me, my family, friends, people who attend my classes, people who place orders with me and the list goes on.

We as a society are losing the art of letter writing, the art of handwriting in this digital age, but think about how special that note, card, letter or piece of tape in your beloved family members handwriting is now that they have passed away.

So join me in helping to preserve this rapidly disappearing art, create a card and send it to someone special.

    Hugs my crafty friends,
