More Dragonflies of Summer!

I just love the Dragonfly Garden Stamp Set and Dragonflies Punch so naturally I had to create another fun card! This card features Misty Moonlight Cardstock cut with the Stitched So Sweetly Dies to create the frame around the image and sentiment stamped with Bumblebee Ink and a strip of the Dandy Garden Designer series Paper.

Dragonfly Garden Stamp Set

To Make This Card:

4 1/4″ x 11″ score at 5 1/2″ Thick Basic White Cardstock
4 1/4″ x 1 3/4″ Strip of Dandy Garden Designer Series Paper, adhere to the left of the card front at the fold line. This is a landscape oriented card.
Using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies, cut the largest scalloped rectangle out of Misty Moonlight Cardstock
3 5/8″ x 2 1/2″ Basic White Cardstock, stamp the floral image and sentiment with Bumblebee Ink
Using the Dragonfly Punch, punch out a dragonfly image from the Dandy Garden Designer Series Paper.
Adhere the stamped image to the top of the die cut rectangle and then center the rectangle to the front of the card.
Pop the dragonfly up on a dimentional
I finished the inside of the card with a spray of small dragonflies using the dragonfly cluster stamp. Remember to decorate your envelope!

I hope you give this card a try, it really is easy and fun to make.

Dandy Garden – Memories and More Card Pack makes for a quick and easy card

Using a Memories and More Card Pack is quick and easy way to put a card together.

Some days you just need a card quickly or looking for easy accessories for scrapbooking? The Memories and More Card Pack is just the ticket. I have featured the Dandy Garden here, but you can use any of the card packs to replicate this simplistic design.

To make this card:

You will need 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” score at 4 1/4” Misty Moonlight cardstock. 5” x 3 3/4” Dandy Garden Designer series Paper. Choose one 3” x 4” card from the Dandy Garden Memories and More Card pack. Adhere the DSP to the card base, top with the memories and more card. Add a 5 1/4” x 4” piece of Basic white to the inside of the card. Personalize the inside and don’t forget to decorate your envelope.

With Stampin’ Up!s coordinating colors and products it really is that easy to make a card on the fly.

Friday Fun Fold – Featuring the Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper

Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper

My dear friend and fellow demo Colleen Light – Cardsbycoco.com, featured this fabulous fun fold in her stamp with me video and I loved it so much I had to make one too!

To make this card

Card base of Blackberry Bliss cardstock 5 1/2” x 6 1/2” score at 2 1/4” on the 6 1/2” side. Take a second piece of Blackberry Bliss 3 1/2” x 3 1/2” score at 3/4”, burnish all of the score lines.

Next I chose a piece of Fine Art Floral DSP that coordinates perfectly with the Blackberry Bliss cardstock, 2” x 5 1/4” (this is a vertical card so be sure of the pattern direction when cutting) and a second piece 3 1/4” x 2 1/2”.

Adhere the larger piece of DSP to the outside of the 2 1/4” flap. Then take the second piece of DSP, using the opposite side pattern and where it to the smaller piece of cardstock with the 3/4” score on the right hand side. Center this piece on the card base with the 3/4” wrapping around the right edge, adhere with tear & tape.

Adhere the smaller piece to the right side of the card base
This is how the 3/4” flap sits on the card base

Then I chose the second rectangle from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies and cut out using Blackberry Bliss cardstock. I used the third die to cut a piece of Basic White cardstock with the sentiment, from Art Gallery Stamp Set, stamped in blackberry Bliss Ink and layered it on the BB die cut. I stamped the small floral image in Blackberry Bliss, stamping off fist. I added a piece of Basic White cardstock 4” x 5 1/4” to the inside of the card, stamping again with Blackberry Bliss Ink.

I adhered the sentiment piece with dimensionals, centered left on the large flap, be sure the dimensionals are only adhered to the part that is on the left flap. The smaller flap on the right will tuck behind the sentiment label.

For the final touches I added Wink of Stella yo my stamped floral image as well as the DSP flowers and rhinestones scattered for that bling!

I hope you give this fun fold a try! As always, all supplies used can be found at my online store: https://www.stampinup.com?demoid=2189212

Using those trimmed off strips of Fine Art Floral DSP

Paper strips from the Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper

Remember when I said to save those paper wedge strips that were trimmed off the Designer Series Paper (DSP) I used for the Drapery Fold? Well round them up, they are the background for today’s card!

I started with a standard 1/2 sheet of cardstock 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” scored at 4 1/4” in So Safron. I then laid out the DSP wedges, showcasing both sides of the paper and adhered to the card base with liquid adhesive. I then used Stampin Write markers to color the floral spray stamp from the Art Gallery stamp set. (Warning, you cannot use Stampin Blends on stamps) I used Pumpkin Pie and Garden Green, then huffed onto the stamp and stamped the image onto Basic White cardstock. I then used the coordinating die to cut out the image. I used the smaller flower filler to stamp Pumpkin Pie Ink directly onto the larger flowers adding dimension.

Next I stamped the sentiment onto Basic White cardstock with Poppy Parade Ink. Next I used a die from Stitched So Sweetly dies to cut out the sentiment. I used second generation Pool party ink (stamped off) to add color to the sentiment die cut. I think I did too much, but it is what it is! I popped up the sentiment and floral spray on dimensionals and adhered to the card front. Then I added Wink of Stella to the flower petals and added Opal Rounds embellishments.

So what do you think? Give it a try, lay out the wedges on various coordinating cardstock to see what color combo you like!

Drapery Fold Technique – Fun Use For DSP

Do you hoard paper? I sure do and this technique is one of many that will prompt you to use that beautiful Designer Series Paper (DSP) that is collecting dust in your crafting area.

Drapery Fold Technique

I watched a video by Diane Thorsen of DLT Creations showcasing the Drapery Fold, I quickly jotted down the measurements, grabbed a piece of DSP, my paper trimmer, pencil and got to work.

I Started with a piece of Fine Art Floral DSP 5” x 10”, score on the 10” side at 1”, 1 1/2”, 2 1/2”, 3”, 4”, 4 1/2”, 5 1/2”, 6”, 7”, 7 1/2”, 8 1/2” & 9” Make a small mark on the edge of the paper (top and bottom) at the 4 1/2” & 5 1/2” score lines.

Turn the DSP and make a small mark at 2” & 3” (both top & bottom)

Angle the DSP in your paper trimmer to cut from the closest mark to the corner on both the 5” and 10” side, cut that wedge piece off, repeat for the other 3 corners. Set aside those 4 wedge pieces for another card!

Accordion fold on the score lines, working from the center out, carefully burnish the folds with your bone folder. I am sorry I didn’t take a pic of this step, but look at my card for appropriate folding process. You can use liquid adhesive, Stampin Seal or tear n tape to secure folds.

I then took Pool Party Cardstock 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”, scored at 4 1/4” to create a card base. Next is Basic White Cardstock 5 1/4” x 4” and created texture using the Painted Textures 3D Embossing Folder, adhered it to my card base with the liquid adhesive. I then applied 4 strips of tear n tape to the back of my drapery folded DSP, evenly spaced, pulled off the backing strips and centered it to the card front.

Next I cut a strip 3/4” x 4” in Poppy Parade cardstock and used the Pick a Banner punch to flag each end. Then I stamped the sentiment on Basic White. I used a Mother’s Day sentiment, you can use what ever you desire, this card can be feminine or masculine depending on the DSP you choose to use! I punched it out using the Rectangle Postage Stamp Punch. I adhered the Poppy Parade strip to the center of the Drapery Fold DSP then centered the sentiment and adhered it using dimensionals. I topped the card off using the Opal Rounds Embellishments.

You could also add additional die cut of choice to change up the look and as I said before this could be a masculine card very easily by just changing the DSP.

I hope you give this fold a try, it really is quite easy as long as you score according to the listed measurements and fold from the center outward. Watch for more ideas using the drapery fold in the future.

The Art Gallery Bundle – Not Just For Mother’s Day

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day, I was working and intended to finish up this blog post of the card I created for my mom on my lunch break, but a crazy day left no time so here it is! 😬 #nurselife.

Today’s card features the Art Gallery Bundle which I used to create this beautiful Mother’s Day card for my mom. The Art Gallery Stamp Set is photopolymer and is a two step stamp process and has a beautiful printed block font with a great collection of sentiments for most occasions. I used the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder to create the textured background.

The Art Gallery Bundle

To make the card:

For the card base I used Granny Apple Green Cardstock 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” scored and folded at 4 1/4”. Next I used a piece of Basic White Cardstock 3 3/4” x 5” and created the texture using the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder, and adhered it to the card front using liquid adhesive.

Next I stamped the large flower head in Flirty Flamingo Ink and the second step stamp overlay again in Flirty Flamingo Ink, thus creating a darker version of the ink, adding depth to the image. Next I stamped the stem and leaves in Granny Apple Green ink. I used the Floral Gallery Dies to die cut the stamped images out. Then I used liquid adhesive to attach the flower head to the stem at the angle I desired, and applied dimensionals to the flower head and stem, placing onto the card front in the upper left, angled to draw the eye from top to the bottom right for the placement of the sentiment.

For the sentiment I used the Happy Mother’s Day from the Timeless Tulips Stamp Set in Granny Apple Green Ink on Basic White Cardstock. Unfortunately the punch I used is now retired but either the Label Me lovely or Everyday Label Punch would create the same effect. I punched a second label from Flirty Flamingo Cardstock, cut it down the center, horizontally and adhered the pieces to the back of the sentiment piece creating the colored background. I attached the sentiment to the card front with dimensionals.

The finishing touches are Wink of Stella glitter pen to the highlighted areas on the petals and leaves, 5 Opal Rounds Embellishments applied in random. I stamped a smaller flower head inside the card and also stamped an image on the envelope.
