Friends Are Like Seashells – Arrow Fold Card

Friends are like seashells, treasures that you collect along the path of life. Having grown up on the Oregon Coast seashells, the ocean and beach scenes have always had a special place in my heart and this bundle was on my must have list!

Friends Are Like Seashells bundle

To make this card

Misty Moonlight cardstock 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” score at 4 1/4”. On one edge on the 5 1/2” side make a tick mark at 2 3/4”, turn the cardstock to the 8 1/2” side, make tick mark at 2 1/8” on both sides. Next score from the 2 3/4” tick mark to the 2 1/8” tick mark on both edges and then score from the 2 3/4” to the 4 1/4” score line on both sides. Fold on the score lines to create an arrow image on the card front.

Front of the card before the die cuts are added.
The underside of the front flap.

Next take a piece of Designer Series Paper, I chose the retiring Sand & Sea, 5 1/4” x 4”. Make a tick mark at 2 5/8” on the 5 1/4” side and angle cut from the tick mark to the opposite corner on both sides as shown in the pic above.

I used liquid multipurpose adhesive to glue down the folded flaps, add the DSP triangle to the front panel and the two angled pieces of DSP to a piece of Basic White cardstock measuring 4” x 5 1/4” as shown in the pic and adhere it to the inside of the card.

Using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies, cut one rectangle out of Misty Moonlight and the next size down in Basic White. Using the Seaside Seashells Die Set and Frurnds Are Like Seashells Stamp and die cut the sand dollar, small shell and starfish using Crumb cake Ink, stamping off once and lightly blend Crumb cake Ink over the the die cuts using a blending brush. Stamp the sentiment to the left side of the Basic White die cut rectangle. Best the rectangles together and adhere with multipurpose liquid adhesive, add the shells, sand dollar snd starfish, then adhere the die cut rectangles to the card front, centering it as desired.

This is a fun fold that is easy to create. Watch for my Facebook Live tutorial, coming this week! I hope you will give this card a try!

More Snail Mail oh my!

Hello again Mr. Snail, I see more of your trails on my front porch! Such is life in our cooler rainy climate here in SW Washington State. While I am not a huge fan of the snails and slugs munching on my plants I do adore the darling Snailed It Stamp Set, coordinating Snail Dies and Snail Mail Designer Series Paper all of which are retiring at the end of June.

Z Fold Card – featuring Snailed It Stamp Set and coordinating Snail Dies

To make this card:

Basic White card base 4 1/4” x 11” scored at 2 3/4” and 5 1/2” fold to create a Z.

Next using Real Red Cardstock cut a piece 5 1/4” x 4” and 2 pieces 2 1/2” x 4”.

Using coordinating pieces of the Snail Mail Designer Series Paper cut one of each design 2 1/4” x 3 3/4” and a panel of Basic White 5” x 3 3/4”.

Lay the card base flat, layer and adhere the Real Red and DSP onto the 2 3/4” sections and then the Real Red and Basic White to the 5 1/2” section. Fold into a Z as shown in the photo.

Z fold Technique

Stamp the snail images using Momento Black Ink onto Basic White cardstock. I colored the images using Stampin Blends using both the light and dark of the following colors, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Pumpkin Pie, Bermuda Bay and Real Red.

Then I used the Snail Dies to cut out the snail with packages on his shell and the snail with the envelope on his shell I used Stitched so Sweetly Dies and the layering die cut in Real Red Cardstock. I adhered the stitched so Sweetly die cuts layering fashion and to the front flap of the Z Fold, positioning it so it overhangs the fold but not adhered past the score line, and the other snail onto the far right lower corner of the 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” panel. I added some Wink of Stella under both snails to add that touch of snail trail and scattered 3 rhinestones randomly across the card front.

This stamp set, dies and Designer Series Paper are retiring yet still currently available while supplies last or June 30th. All items are available through my online store: https://www.stampinup.com?demoid=2189212

I hope you enjoy this darling card and Z Fold Technique!

Snail Mail – A Fun Spin

Living in the Pacific Northwest with the cooler, wetter climate we are no strangers to snails and slugs. During the spring we often find snail trails on the sidewalks in the early mornings. My inspiration for this card was creating cute, happy mail and seeing the snail trail image on this darling DSP!

Isn’t it fun to open the mailbox and find something other than bills and junk mail? Today’s card features the Snailed It Bundle and Snail Mail Designer Series Paper.

Featuring the Snailed It Stamp Set, Snail Dies and Snail Mail Designer Series Paper.

To create this card:

Start with a card base of Bermuda Bay cardstock 4 1/4” x 11” scored at 5 1/2”. A piece of Snail Mail Designer Series Paper 4” x 5 1/4” adhered to the card front, I chose to have the card be landscape orientation.

Next I used the Snail Dies (that are on sale 50% while supplies last) to die cut the snail image out of the DSP and the postage square die to cut a piece out of Basic White, isn’t the stitching so cute? Adhere the the snail die cut to the postage stamp die cut.

I then stamped the simple greeting using Momento Black Ink. I chose a strip of DSP measuring 3/4” x 5 1/4” that looks like snail trails, tucking a slightly shorter strip of Basic White cardstock under the strip and adhering it to the card front as shown in the photo.

To finish off this card, I used dimensionals to pop up the postage stamp die cut, lining it up so the body of the snail was inline with the “snail trail” on the DSP. I added some rhinestones as well as decorated a white panel inside the card and stamped a snail image on the envelope!

This stamp set and dies can be easily adapted for making your woodland or fairy scenes making it a fun and versatile. The stamp set, dies and DSP will be retiring at the end of June and are only while supplies last.

Waterfall Card Technique- Featuring the Hand Penned Designer Series Paper

I just love fun fold cards! I have seen this technique before but thought it would be difficult so I didn’t give it a try, til now!

Waterfall Technique featuring the Hand Penned Designer Series Paper

The Hand Penned Designer Series Paper is so beautiful, what better way to showcase it then with this fabulously fun technique!

To Make This Card:

Start with a card base that is 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” scored at 4 1/4” Highland Heather cardstock. Adhere a piece of the Hand Penned DSP 4” x 5 1/4” to the card base.

Pulling on the tag topper end creates the cascade waterfall effect

Take a strip of Basic White cardstock 3/4” x 4” (I covered mine with DSP) and adhere it with Tear & Tape (on each end) 1 1/4” from the bottom of the card front. Be sure to tape only on the end edges as the slide mechanism will sit behind this strip.

Alternate sides of the DSP when layering the squares, finding the most visually appealing side of each square.

Next you will need a piece of Thick Basic White cardstock 2” x 9”, score at the 2”, 2 3/4”, 3 1/2” and 4 1/4”. Using a tag topper punch, punch the far end of the strip, farthest away from the score lines. Stamp image as desired, I used the Hand Penned Petals Stamp Set using Gray Granite Ink got the flower outline, Misty Moonlight, Daffodil Delight and Garden Green Inks. I added Wink of Stella for the shimmer effect to the entire image. Set aside for now.

Be sure to decorate the side of the 2” x 9” strip as you desire.

Now cut 4 squares of each of 2” x 2” Highland Heather cardstock, 1 3/4” x 1 3/4” Basic White cardstock and 3 squares 1 1/2” x 1 1/2” Hand penned DSP. Adhere the layers, thoughtfully choosing the most visually appealing sides of the DSP squares as the top layers. I chose to stamp on one Basic White square using the Hand Penned Petals Stamp Set.

To create the slide mechanism, take the 2” x 9” piece of Thick Basic White cardstock and fold it on the 4 1/2” score line with the punched end on the bottom and score lines on top. Fold the score lines so they curl under toward the stamped image. Now arrange the 4 layered square pieces as you wish, adhere each square at a score line starting from the bottom, be very careful to keep the adhesive just between the score line. Once all 4 squares are adhered, slide the bottom flap with the stamped image facing up, behind the 3/4” x 4” flap, fold over at the middle score line so the squares are on top. Center the strip and carefully apply Tear & Tape to the front inside piece of the strip and attach to the 3/4” strip, making sure you can pull the 2” x 9” strip from that tag topper end downward and the square layers will cascade in a waterfall effect. Add ribbon or linen thread to the tag topper to create the “handle” to pull. Complete the inside of your card with a piece of Basic White cardstock 4” x 5 1/4” stamped or trimmed with a strip of DSP as well as your envelope.

This card was really quite simple to put together once you have all your pieces cut and scored. Another fun thing would be to write words on each square, creating a message that is revealed as the recipient pulls the tag and the squares cascade into a waterfall.

Friday Fun Fold – Featuring the Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper

Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper

My dear friend and fellow demo Colleen Light – Cardsbycoco.com, featured this fabulous fun fold in her stamp with me video and I loved it so much I had to make one too!

To make this card

Card base of Blackberry Bliss cardstock 5 1/2” x 6 1/2” score at 2 1/4” on the 6 1/2” side. Take a second piece of Blackberry Bliss 3 1/2” x 3 1/2” score at 3/4”, burnish all of the score lines.

Next I chose a piece of Fine Art Floral DSP that coordinates perfectly with the Blackberry Bliss cardstock, 2” x 5 1/4” (this is a vertical card so be sure of the pattern direction when cutting) and a second piece 3 1/4” x 2 1/2”.

Adhere the larger piece of DSP to the outside of the 2 1/4” flap. Then take the second piece of DSP, using the opposite side pattern and where it to the smaller piece of cardstock with the 3/4” score on the right hand side. Center this piece on the card base with the 3/4” wrapping around the right edge, adhere with tear & tape.

Adhere the smaller piece to the right side of the card base
This is how the 3/4” flap sits on the card base

Then I chose the second rectangle from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies and cut out using Blackberry Bliss cardstock. I used the third die to cut a piece of Basic White cardstock with the sentiment, from Art Gallery Stamp Set, stamped in blackberry Bliss Ink and layered it on the BB die cut. I stamped the small floral image in Blackberry Bliss, stamping off fist. I added a piece of Basic White cardstock 4” x 5 1/4” to the inside of the card, stamping again with Blackberry Bliss Ink.

I adhered the sentiment piece with dimensionals, centered left on the large flap, be sure the dimensionals are only adhered to the part that is on the left flap. The smaller flap on the right will tuck behind the sentiment label.

For the final touches I added Wink of Stella yo my stamped floral image as well as the DSP flowers and rhinestones scattered for that bling!

I hope you give this fun fold a try! As always, all supplies used can be found at my online store: https://www.stampinup.com?demoid=2189212

Using those trimmed off strips of Fine Art Floral DSP

Paper strips from the Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper

Remember when I said to save those paper wedge strips that were trimmed off the Designer Series Paper (DSP) I used for the Drapery Fold? Well round them up, they are the background for today’s card!

I started with a standard 1/2 sheet of cardstock 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” scored at 4 1/4” in So Safron. I then laid out the DSP wedges, showcasing both sides of the paper and adhered to the card base with liquid adhesive. I then used Stampin Write markers to color the floral spray stamp from the Art Gallery stamp set. (Warning, you cannot use Stampin Blends on stamps) I used Pumpkin Pie and Garden Green, then huffed onto the stamp and stamped the image onto Basic White cardstock. I then used the coordinating die to cut out the image. I used the smaller flower filler to stamp Pumpkin Pie Ink directly onto the larger flowers adding dimension.

Next I stamped the sentiment onto Basic White cardstock with Poppy Parade Ink. Next I used a die from Stitched So Sweetly dies to cut out the sentiment. I used second generation Pool party ink (stamped off) to add color to the sentiment die cut. I think I did too much, but it is what it is! I popped up the sentiment and floral spray on dimensionals and adhered to the card front. Then I added Wink of Stella to the flower petals and added Opal Rounds embellishments.

So what do you think? Give it a try, lay out the wedges on various coordinating cardstock to see what color combo you like!
